Jordan Collins is resigning his position as a police officer with the city of Elgin. Collins was arrested by the Illinois Attorney General's Office on December 4 and is being charged with eight counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of reproduction of child pornography.
The City of Aurora, Illinois (the “City”) is pleased to announce this offering of a key development site consisting of approximately 50 acres of developable land (the “Subject Parcels”) located in the Interstate 88/Bilter Road/Farnsworth Avenue Corridor (the “Development Corridor”). The city is the landowner and will consider utilizing this asset as a vehicle to foster the overall economics of the complex and/ or any individual component that produces a positive cost/ benefit. The purpose of this Request for Qualifications (“Request” or “RFQ”) is to solicit the interest of potential developers or development teams. The site could be purchased and developed by ONE MASTER DEVELOPER for the full 50-acres or from special users interested in only one use (i.e. the hotel only, the sports facility only, etc.).
On Sunday, December 10, staff discovered that one of the Lords Park Zoo's bison, Becky age 24, was unable to get up by herself or with assistance. Following a veterinary exam, it was determined to humanely euthanize Becky. Becky was surrounded by her caretakers, a team committed to providing the best possible care to the animals at the zoo.

Elgin’s on-street leaf collection program for residents living within the City’s four designated areas begins Monday, October 30 and is expected to run through Thursday, December 7 (weather permitting). The only exception is the week of Thanksgiving, and Thursday’s leaves will be collected on Saturday, November 25. View a map of the leaf pick-up locations and schedule.
