Elgin, IL - Jordan Collins is resigning his position as a police officer with the city of Elgin. Collins was arrested by the Illinois Attorney General's Office on December 4 and is being charged with eight counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of reproduction of child pornography.

"The Elgin Police Department immediately launched an internal investigation with the city’s independent investigator following Collins’ arrest,” says Chief of Police Ana Lalley. “Collins was notified of his scheduled interrogation and chose to tender his resignation rather than participate in the police department’s internal investigation.”

The police department has notified the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board of Collins’ resignation while under investigation in accordance with state law.

The case is within the jurisdiction of the Attorney General’s Office and DeKalb County and no further information is available from the city of Elgin. View the Attorney General’s news release.
