Elgin, IL - Property owners who own residential structures within locally designated historic districts or residential landmarks are encouraged to apply for a 2024 Historic Architectural Rehabilitation Grant by Friday, March 29. Applications may be downloaded online, or picked up at:

Funding is limited. The following grants are available:
50/50 Program
- Reimbursement: 50% up to $20,000 maximum
- Minimum total project cost to qualify: $5,000
- Project completion time: 18 months
75/25 Program
- Reimbursement: 75% up to $20,000 maximum
- Minimum total project cost to qualify: $2,500
- Project completion time: 18 months
- Property must be owner occupied
- Low to moderate income qualification required
Grantees will receive a reimbursement grant of up to $20,000 for projects that restore exterior architectural features to their original historic design. View examples of past projects, which include restoration of enclosed or concrete stoop porches, siding and shingles.
Since the program began in 1995, the city has awarded more than 400 grants, assisting property owners with the completion of more than $9.4 million in rehabilitation projects.
