On-street leaf collection in certain neighborhoods will begin on Monday, October 27, and continue through Thursday, December 4. City crews are scheduled to collect leaves from Monday to Thursday each week for six weeks, regardless of weather conditions.
Residents who live in the designated collection areas are required to rake their leaves into the street by 6 a.m. on their assigned pickup day. These days may not align with regular waste, recycling, or organics collection schedules. The city has asked residents to consult the collection map to verify when their leaves will be collected.
There will be no leaf collection service on Thursday, November 27, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Instead, pickups originally scheduled for that day will take place on Saturday, November 29.
Residents within these areas also have the option of disposing of leaves using organics carts or brown kraft paper yard waste bags. After December 4, any remaining leaves should be bagged or placed in an organics cart for pickup during the week of December 8–12.
The weekly curbside yard waste and organics collection for those with organics carts is set to continue throughout the city until Friday, December 12. This service will then pause for winter and resume after April 1, 2026.
Properties outside the designated zones are not permitted to rake leaves into the street for pickup.
At season’s end, residents with organics carts are advised to store them on their property until spring services restart. According to city officials and Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), neither organization will collect or store these carts during winter months.
