West Side Elgin Home and Vehicles Damaged by Fire

Elgin, IL – At approximately 10 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2024  the Elgin Fire Department responded to a report of a single family home on fire on the 500 block of Shenandoah Trail.
 
Responding fire companies arrived approximately 2 minutes after being dispatched and found heavy fire coming from the garage. Two vehicles in the driveway were exposed to the heat and flames causing significant damage to both. The fire was quickly extinguished 15 minutes after the arrival of the Fire Department. The fire burned into the attic of the garage causing extensive damage to the structure and two additional vehicles inside. The initial damage estimate is $200,000.
 
No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries as a result of the fire. Elgin's Fire Investigation Team is investigating the cause of the fire.
