The City of St. Charles has once again been recognized for its financial reporting practices by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The city's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 39th consecutive year. This accolade is considered the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting.

The award acknowledges St. Charles for demonstrating a spirit of full disclosure, effectively communicating the city's financial status at the end of each fiscal year. The Certificate of Achievement program is designed to encourage governments to produce high-quality financial reports that benefit their citizens, and it is widely regarded as a leading indicator of excellence in this field.

This year's award pertains to the fiscal year ending April 30, 2024. Residents and interested parties can review the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report on the city’s website.

“The City of St. Charles continues its tradition of following the highest standards when it comes to disclosure in government accounting and financial reporting, adhering to fiscally prudent policies, and maintaining financial transparency and accountability,” stated Director of Finance Bill Hannah. He added that “the City’s financial documents are always available online for anyone to access.”
