Susan Hanson, who won the City Clerk position in the April 1, 2025 election, has decided not to assume office due to relocating outside of St. Charles. During the City Council meeting on May 19, 2025, Mayor Clint Hull appointed former Clerk Nancy Garrison as Interim Clerk until a permanent appointment is made.

Although Hanson has not formally withdrawn her candidacy, the St. Charles City Council passed two resolutions: declaring a vacancy in the Office of City Clerk and posting an opening to fill this vacancy.

Candidates interested in applying for the City Clerk position must reside within St. Charles and submit a letter of interest with a resume to Deputy Clerk Marzena Sheets at msheets@stcharlesil.gov by June 9. The appointment will be made by Mayor Hull with advice and consent from the City Council. The appointee will serve a two-year term until the position is up for election again in 2027.
