The city of Aurora has issued a reminder to residents about the prohibition of fireworks under City Code Sec. 29-30. The use or possession of fireworks is illegal, and violations can result in fines up to $1,000. Property owners may also face significant penalties.

Residents are encouraged to report any illegal fireworks activity by calling 311 or (630) 256-4636 if they are outside the city limits. Reports can also be made online at www.aurora.il.us/311. In situations where safety is threatened, residents should call 911.

Starting June 24, yard signs will be available for those who wish to display them as a reminder of the city's regulations on fireworks. Residents interested in obtaining a sign can contact 311.
