On-street leaf collection in certain neighborhoods will continue from October 27 through December 4. City crews are scheduled to collect leaves Monday through Thursday each week, regardless of weather conditions.
Residents living in the designated areas are required to rake their leaves into the street by 6 a.m. on their assigned collection day. The city has clarified that these days may not align with regular waste, recycling, or organics pickup schedules and recommends residents consult the collection map for details.
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no leaf collection on Thursday, November 27. That day's service will instead take place on Saturday, November 29.
Those within the on-street collection zones also have the option to dispose of leaves using organics carts or brown kraft paper yard waste bags. After December 4, any remaining leaves should be bagged or placed in an organics cart for pickup during the week of December 8–12.
Citywide weekly curbside collection of yard waste and organics for those with organics carts is set to continue until Friday, December 12. This service will then pause for winter from December 15 through April 1.
The city reminds residents that raking leaves into the street is only permitted within designated zones; properties outside these areas must use other disposal methods.
At season’s end, residents with organics carts should store them on their property until spring service resumes. According to city officials, neither the city nor Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) will collect or store these carts during the offseason.
