The search for a new Chief of Police in St. Charles is ongoing as city officials continue to seek the right candidate to lead the St. Charles Police Department. Despite identifying several high-quality candidates during the application process, an offer extended to one candidate was declined after they accepted a position elsewhere.

Mayor Clint Hull emphasized the importance of taking time to make the right choice, stating, “Given the importance of this position, it is essential we take the necessary time to make the right choice." He expressed confidence that a suitable candidate would emerge who aligns with both departmental priorities and community values.

City Administrator Heather McGuire highlighted the city's commitment to a thorough hiring process. "The City is committed to a careful and intentional hiring process," she said. "We will continue our candidate evaluations to identify a leader whose experience and strategic vision align with the City's needs.”

The review process involves Mayor Hull, members of the City Council, and select staff. In the interim, Deputy Chief Eric Majewski has been serving as acting Police Chief.

Mayor Hull also expressed gratitude towards the police department's efforts: “We are so proud of our police department and thankful each day for the work they do to protect our community,” he said. He also thanked acting Chief Majewski and his team for their contributions during this transitional period.
