Pressure washing and painting work at the Civic Centre Parking Deck in Elgin will begin on Wednesday, October 29, and is expected to continue through Wednesday, November 12. The maintenance project will be conducted in two phases, resulting in limited parking availability throughout its duration.

According to city officials, all vehicles and items on wheels must be removed from the parking deck by 7 a.m. on October 29.

During Phase 1, which runs from October 29 to November 5, the Symphony Way entrance and all levels above it will remain open. However, the area from the Symphony Way entrance down to the basement will be closed for maintenance. The Douglas Avenue entrance will also be closed during this phase.

Phase 2 of the project will take place from November 5 to November 12. In this phase, the Symphony Way entrance and all levels above it will be closed. The Douglas Avenue entrance will reopen, and parking will be available in areas below the Symphony Way entrance as work progresses. As paint cures and sections are completed, lower levels of the deck will gradually reopen for use. Weekend parking access will remain available during Phase 2.

Electronic message boards are being placed at Grove Avenue and Kimball Street as well as Douglas Avenue and Symphony Way to notify drivers about limited parking options.

The city encourages residents and visitors to consider alternative parking locations while maintenance is underway. Options include City Hall Lot at 120 E. Highland Ave., Public Lot at 200 N. Grove Ave., Spring Street Parking Deck at 200 E. Chicago St., and Fulton Parking Deck at 225 Fulton St.
