Elgin residents have an opportunity to provide input on the preliminary engineering and environmental studies for improvements to the Kimball Street Bridge and Fox River Trail. The city will host a public information meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, in the Ballroom at The Centre of Elgin, located at 100 Symphony Way. Free parking is available on-site.

The meeting will be held in an open-house format, allowing residents to learn about the study, understand the need for the project, and see how earlier community feedback has influenced current designs. City staff and members of the project team will present the preferred plan and proposed improvements while seeking further input from attendees.

A Spanish interpreter will be present to help with translation during the event. Residents can attend at any time during the two-hour window to view materials, ask questions, and share their comments.

"Residents are encouraged to submit comments by Friday, Dec. 12, through email, mail, the study website, or in person at the meeting. All comments received by the deadline will be included in the official public meeting record," according to city officials.

In addition to this event, a separate public information meeting focused on updates regarding the Chicago Street Bridge Phase I study is planned for early 2026.

Further details about the Kimball Street Bridge and Fox River Trail project and options for submitting feedback can be found on the project’s website.
