FOIA Request to City of Batavia Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government, we at the Kane County Reporter have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Batavia. The request, sent on October 28, 2024, seeks detailed information about unpaid parking violations within the city.
Specifically, we have asked for a comprehensive list of all parking violations that currently remain unpaid. This includes the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when each violation occurred, and the total amount due.
We believe that access to this information is crucial for us to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As journalists committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, we see it as our duty to investigate these matters thoroughly.
We have requested that this information be provided in an electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting. Furthermore, given our role as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver.
