State Senator Don DeWitte and State Representative Dan Ugaste are organizing a free document shredding event and food drive. The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Salvation Army Tri-City Corps Community Center in St. Charles. Attendees can dispose of old documents securely and donate non-perishable food items to support the Salvation Army Food Pantry.
The shred truck will be available until it is full or until 11:00 AM. Participants should follow traffic signs and stay in their vehicles as staff unload cars. Parking is available for those who wish to watch their documents being shredded. Items such as paper folders, staples, and paper clips can be shredded, but large binder clips, plastic file folders, floppy discs, and electronics are not accepted.
Senator DeWitte stated, "As people are gathering their sensitive documents for free, safe and secure destruction, I hope they will look through their kitchen pantry and grab a few nonperishable items to donate." He added that it's a pleasure to offer this service to constituents while supporting the local food pantry.
For more details about the event, constituents can contact Senator DeWitte’s office at (847) 214-8245 or email Abby at amccarthy@sgop.ilga.gov.
