The City of Aurora is addressing a water main issue in the White Eagle subdivision. The Water and Sewer Maintenance Division recently repaired a broken water main, but this necessitated a precautionary localized boil order for the affected area due to depressurization below 20 PSI. According to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, lifting such an order requires two consecutive days of satisfactory test results.
City crews identified another leak within the shut-down area on Monday night, which was likely contributing to the problem. This discovery led to another temporary water shut-off. Crews quickly repaired the leak and thoroughly flushed the system. Testing continues, and if two consecutive days of passing results are obtained, officials anticipate lifting the boil order by Thursday.
In response to resident concerns, two pallets of water have been distributed with additional resources planned. The City remains committed to supporting residents until the situation is resolved.
"Testing is ongoing," stated city officials, "and assuming two consecutive days of passing results are achieved, the precautionary localized boil order will be lifted by Thursday."
"The City understands the concerns of residents and will continue to support the neighborhood until the issue is resolved."
