The St. Charles Police Department has issued a traffic advisory for the 4th of July fireworks event scheduled to take place at Langum Park. Temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented to manage the flow of vehicles and ensure safety during the festivities.

Key personnel from the St. Charles Police, Public Works, Emergency Management Agency, and Kane County Office of Emergency Management will be stationed on both sides of the Fox River to assist with traffic management around these temporary closures.

Specific roads will experience changes in traffic patterns starting at approximately 9:30 p.m., coinciding with the start of the fireworks display. Southbound Riverside Avenue/IL Rt. 25 traffic will be redirected east to S. 7th Ave., continuing south before returning west via Moore Ave. Similarly, northbound Riverside Avenue/IL Rt. 25 at Moore Avenue will see vehicles diverted east onto Moore Ave., then north on S. 7th Ave., eventually heading back west to IL Rt. 25.

The Prairie Street Bridge is set to close fifteen minutes prior to the commencement of fireworks and will reopen once they conclude.

Post-fireworks, certain roads such as South 7th Avenue between Madison & Fern Avenues and South 2nd Street/IL Rt. 31 between Prairie & Mosedale Streets will temporarily close to facilitate pedestrian movement from nearby parks.

Parking restrictions are also being enforced on several local streets including South Avenue from Riverside Avenue to S. 7th Avenue, S. 6th Avenue from Adams Avenue to Riverside Avenue, among others listed by authorities.

For safety reasons, viewing fireworks from specific areas like the fifth level of the westside parking deck on 1st Street or along Riverside Ave near Langum Park is prohibited.

Additionally, beginning July 3rd, access across Indiana Street Pedestrian Bridge will be restricted.

Motorists should anticipate heavy traffic surrounding this event and consider alternative routes where possible due to expected delays.
