For the first time since 2019, the Fiestas Patrias Parade will return to Aurora. The event is being organized in partnership with the Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board.
The city has opened nominations for a grand marshal who should be someone recognized for promoting and supporting Hispanic culture and community in Aurora. According to the city, "Our search for a grand marshal has begun! Nominate someone who actively promotes and champions Hispanic culture and community in Aurora by clicking the link below. Submissions are due by 5:00 P.M. on August 8th."
Those interested in participating as a unit in this year’s parade are encouraged to contact the Special Events Team at parades@aurora.il.us with their details. The city notes that space is limited, stating, "Want to join as a unit in this year's parade? Connect with our Special Events Team at parades@aurora.il.us and share your unit details! Hurry, space is limited, and we’re eager to showcase units that capture the vibrant spirit and celebration of this incredible event!"
A community meeting about enhancing Fiestas Patrias festivities will take place on Thursday, July 31 from 6-7 p.m. at City Hall (44 E. Downer Place). Residents are invited to attend and share their ideas. As noted by organizers, "We've got one last thing - join us for our community meeting on Thursday, July 31 from 6-7 P.M. at City Hall (44 E. Downer Place) to share your ideas for enhancing Fiestas Patrias festivities!"
