The Judson University Eagles opened up CCAC play on Wednesday at Lincoln College as the Eagles were unable to hold onto early leads in both contests leading to 4-3 and 9-3 losses.
In the opener, Judson scored runs in the first inning on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly from Gigi Velazquez. After Lincoln pulled within a run, Judson answered with an infield single by CJ Adams to give Judson a 3-1 lead. Lincoln would score a single run in the fifth and two in the sixth to complete the comeback. CJ Adams had a multi-hit game for the Eagles, while Sarah Herbert, Gabby Melchiorrie, and Angelica Vasquez had hits for Judson. Bella Lodico pitched for Judson as she allowed four earned runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out one.
In the second game, Judson scored a pair of runs in the top of the third on a Herbert two-rbi single. After Lincoln scored four runs in the bottom of the inning, Adams had an RBI hit to pull Judson within one. Lincoln scored five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pull away. Melchiorre led Judson with three hits and two runs scored. Adam had a pair of base knocks, while Herbert, Andi Stephens, Tatyana Chavez, and Vasquez had hits for Judson. Sophie Schomer got the start and pitched 2.2 innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out one and walking one.
Judson (2-10-1, 0-2 CCAC) is scheduled to host a doubleheader against Cardinal Stritch on Thursday beginning at 3:00 p.m.
