After the recent budget proposal laid out by Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Sen. Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) says history is repeating itself.
“Despite a roaring economy and the largest tax increase in Illinois history, the governor is proposing a budget designed to do one thing: necessitate his massive tax increase,” McConchie said in a statement. “There's a better way. Let's live within our means and govern responsibly without once again reaching into taxpayer pockets. It's not that hard.”
McConchie warned that Pritzker is making the same mistakes as former Gov. Bruce Rauner by threatening to withhold funding to education, medicare, and economic development, all in the name of his proposed tax plan, which McConchie believes is going to push residents out of the state.
This proves, McConchie said, that Pritzker cares more about his own agenda that what is best for the people of Illinois.
“The governor is doing exactly what he criticized his predecessor for, holding hostage schools, infrastructure, and other things like small business owners tax refunds if voters don't bend to his will,” McConchie said.
