City of Elgin issued the following announcement on July 28.
Join the celebration as the 11th annual Art and Soul on the Fox returns to downtown Elgin. The free arts and entertainment festival is set for Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hosted by the City of Elgin and Art for All, the event features over 60 talented artists and artisans representing a variety of artistic mediums.
The beautiful Riverside Drive Promenade provides a picturesque setting for attendees to explore Elgin's historic downtown area along the Fox River. Dream Hall, located at 51 S. Grove Avenue, will also host several artists as well. Featured attractions for the weekend include:
Over 60 juried artists and artisans exhibiting and selling their works along the Riverside Drive Promenade
Live music and roaming entertainment taking place throughout the festival grounds
KidZone offering activities and crafts for children
Several tasty food vendors
Beer and wine tent
Oddball Alley, an "off-the-wall" artistic component in the pedestrian alleyway connecting Grove Avenue to Riverside Drive will be expanded this year with more artists. Oddball Alley is coordinated by Oddball Art Labs, the organizers of the current Cartoon Cavalcade show hosted at the Elgin Artspace Lofts.
New this year, the Your Neighbor group will have a booth to print t-shirts for donation. Local theatre company Goodly Creatures will also host additional family activities at a booth outside KidZone.
Art and Soul on the Fox takes place, rain or shine. The event is free to attend and downtown parking options can be found at cityofelgin.org/parking.
Attendees are encouraged to support local downtown businesses during the event. Information about downtown restaurants and other visitor information will available at the Explore Elgin Area Information Booth.
