Ted Dabrowski, a candidate for governor of Illinois, recently commented on the Diwali celebration at the BAPS Temple in Bartlett. He expressed that the event emphasized unity and harmony, while also criticizing Governor J.B. Pritzker's rhetoric toward federal law enforcement.

"I was honored to attend the extraordinary Diwali celebration at BAPS Temple in Bartlett, IL," said Dabrowski, Illinois Gubernatorial Candidate. "At a time when Gov. Pritzker is engaging in inflammatory rhetoric and inciting violence against federal law enforcement, this celebration's theme of unity and harmony is one we can all appreciate and should embrace."

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Bartlett is a regional hub for Diwali and Annakut celebrations. In October, it hosts events that attract families from across Chicagoland for prayer, light displays, and cultural programs focused on unity. The temple's calendar includes dedicated Diwali observances, such as a community-wide celebration scheduled for October 19, 2025.

According to Pew Research Center’s analysis for 2025, the Hindu population in North America has grown to approximately 3.6 million—a 55% increase over the past decade. This demographic shift aligns with broader trends of religious diversification and immigration, contributing to the prominence of public Diwali celebrations like those at BAPS Bartlett.

Local reports indicate significant participation at the Bartlett mandir’s Diwali events. ABC7 Chicago noted that nearly 12,000 people were expected to visit during Diwali week, highlighting the celebration's cultural significance in the suburbs. The report emphasized themes of unity—echoed by Dabrowski—and showcased candlelight prayers as part of the festivities.

Dabrowski is a Republican gubernatorial candidate and president of Wirepoints, an organization focused on state governance. He launched his campaign in September 2025 with priorities including taxes, public safety, and education.

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Bartlett is built according to traditional Indian architectural guidelines and offers daily visits along with educational tours and major festival observances like Diwali.
