The St. Charles Fire Department will conduct hydrant flow testing at 18 N 4th Street on Monday, April 28, 2025. This test is scheduled to start at 9:00 A.M. and is expected to conclude by 10:00 A.M. on the same day. During the testing, residents nearby might notice rust in the water. Although the water remains safe, it is advisable to hold off on doing laundry until the water clears.
In the event that rusty water discolors clothes that are being washed, residents should keep the clothing wet and contact the Public Works Department at 630-377-4405. A rust-removing solution packet can be provided upon request. Additionally, drivers are advised to exercise caution when traveling through areas where water is being flushed, as it may be present on the pavement.
