Dates have been set for the upcoming fire hydrant flushing program which will affect several subdivisions and historic areas. This essential maintenance work is designed to enhance water quality by flushing out sediments from pipe mains, verifying the operation of hydrants and valves, and maintaining firefighting capabilities.

The schedule for flushing runs across various neighborhoods, beginning April 28 and extending through to May 30. Specific areas included are Old Mill Manor Subdivision, White Oak Ponds and Highlands Subdivisions, Tuscany Woods Subdivision, and various parts of the Historic Town both east and west of State Street, among others.

Residents in affected areas are advised to prepare for temporary water discoloration. "Expect temporary discolored water" can occur due to the stirring of sediments during flushing. It is advised to avoid running tap water and refrain from using washing machines or dishwashers during these periods.

In the event of discolored water, residents should run cold water for several minutes to clear any remaining sediments. The discoloration only affects appearance and poses no health risks, with no impact on water quality.

If low water pressure or volume occurs, cleaning faucet screens may help resolve the issue.
