State Senator Don DeWitte’s office and Representative Ugaste’s office are participating in a Diaper Drive to benefit not-for-profit groups in southern Kane and Kendall counties. Organized by the Fox Valley United Way, the drive aims to support local families in need.

Diapers will be collected at Rep. Ugaste and Sen. DeWitte’s District Office in St. Charles, located at 406 Surrey Woods Drive, Unit A, through September 14. A collection bin has been placed inside the front doors of the office for convenience. Drop-off hours are between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Additionally, diapers will be collected at a Shred Event and Food Drive on Saturday, September 14, at the Gail Borden Public Library District, Rakow Branch, 2751 W. Bowes Rd., Elgin, from 9-11 a.m.

"This Diaper Drive is an important event for our area," stated Rep. Ugaste's office. "Diapers are very expensive and many families are struggling to afford them." The statement highlighted that diapers cannot be purchased with WIC or SNAP benefits and food pantries have limited supplies.

The drive requests donations of diaper sizes 1 through 7, with larger sizes being in greater demand. Pull-ups, adult diapers, and baby wipes are also needed. All donations will be distributed to families through non-profit organizations in southern Kane and Kendall counties.

For questions regarding the drive, individuals can contact Rep. Ugaste’s office at 630-797-5530 or Sen. DeWitte’s office at 847-214-8245.

Monetary donations cannot be accepted by either office; all financial contributions must be made directly to the United Way.
