Geneva Construction, contracted by the City, is set to commence work on the 2025 Street Program. This initiative involves resurfacing 19 residential roadways and additional improvements such as pavement patching on Third Street, reconstruction of the Hamilton Street parking lot, reconfiguration of James Street parking, updated pavement markings, and drainage repairs. A detailed project map and list of locations are available online.

Starting June 26, parking spaces on James Street from First (Route 31) to Second streets will undergo reconfiguration. The construction work will begin with excavation and sidewalk removal. While the roadway will remain open for traffic, parking on both sides of the street will be unavailable during this period. Additionally, the sidewalk on the north side of James Street near City Hall and the old library building will be closed.

The utility bill dropbox located off the driveway behind City Hall will not be accessible for about a week. Customers can refer to FAQs for alternative dropbox locations and other payment methods.

For individuals seeking permits at the Building Division or attending the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting at City Hall Council Chambers on June 26, access via James Street entrance at City Hall remains open. Visitors must use the sidewalk wrapping around from Route 31 to reach the staircase.

The City plans to provide further updates on street programs later this week.

Residents can subscribe for road construction updates through Notify Me on the City's website. For more information regarding the Street Program, contact Civil Engineer Elton Orozco at 630-232-1279 or via email.
