CALL TO ORDER

Chairperson Saville called the meeting to order at 4:00pm

ROLL CALL

Present: 5 - Chairperson Mike Saville, Vice Chair Bill Donnell, Alderwoman Juany Garza, Alderman John Laesch and Alderman Ted Mesiacos

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

24-0416 Approval of the minutes from the Public Health, Safety and Transportation Committee Meeting held on May 28, 2024.

A motion was made by Alderwoman Garza, seconded by Alderman Laesch, that this agenda item be accepted and filed. The motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT

AGENDA

24-0406 A Resolution authorizing the execution of a Memorandum of Agreement by July 1, 2024 fulfilling the obligation of the Notice of Intent to participate in the coalition led by Kane County, Illinois for the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant signed by Mayor Irvin on March 29, 2024.

Julie Frankino, Grant Writer - City of Aurora, presented and answered questions regarding this item.

A motion was made by Alderwoman Garza, seconded by Alderman Laesch, that this agenda item be recommended for approval. The motion carried.

24-0408 A Resolution authorizing the City of Aurora to submit an application to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for the CDBG-CV Urban Shelter Program to fund the reconstruction of the Family Shelter at Hesed House in the amount not to exceed $2,000,000

Julie Frankino, Grant Writer - City of Aurora and Chris Cox - IT Coordinator & Associate Director - Hesed House, presented and answered questions regarding this item.

A motion was made by Alderwoman Garza, seconded by Vice Chair Donnell, that this agenda item be recommended for approval. The motion carried.

24-0409 A Resolution authorizing an application to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for the Community Development Block Grant-Coronavirus Grant, Urban Shelter Program, to fund the construction of a new shelter facility at Mutual Ground, 418 Oak Avenue, Aurora, IL, in an amount not to exceed $2,000,000

Julie Frankino, Grant Writer - City of Aurora and Linda Maranda, CEO - Mutual Ground, presented and answered questions regarding this item.

A motion was made by Alderwoman Garza, seconded by Alderman Laesch, that this agenda item be recommended for approval. The motion carried.

24-0420 A Resolution establishing the maximum number of Class D: Downtown Core Entertainment District liquor licenses (unofficially related to the application from Aurora Metropolitan Expo. Center Authority - Paramount Theatre - 5 E Downer Pl, Ste G, Aurora). [Ward 2]

Jen Stallings, City Clerk - City of Aurora and Tanya Jarvis, Stolp Island Theatre, presented and answered questions regarding this item.

A motion was made by Vice Chair Donnell, seconded by Alderwoman Garza, that this agenda item be recommended for approval. The motion carried.
