City of Aurora Public Health, Safety and Transportation Committee met Feb. 13

CALL TO ORDER

Chairperson Saville called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.

ROLL CALL

Present: 5 - Chairperson Mike Saville, Vice Chair Bill Donnell, Alderman John Laesch, Alderman Ted Mesiacos and Alderwoman Juany Garza

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

24-0055 Approval of the minutes from the Public Health, Safety and Transportation Committee meeting held on January 23, 2024.

A motion was made by Alderwoman Garza, seconded by Alderman Mesiacos, that the minutes be accepted and filed. The motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT

AGENDA

24-0013 A Resolution authorizing the execution of a service agreement between the City of Aurora, and Family Services Association of Elgin Illinois in support of the Aurora Police Department Crisis Intervention Unit for the period of January of 2024 through June of 2025.

Lieutenant Andy Wolcott - APD, presented and answered questions regarding this item.

A motion was made by Alderwoman Garza, seconded by Vice Chair Donnell, that this agenda item be recommended for approval. The motion carried.

24-0062 A Resolution authorizing the execution of a memorandum of understanding between the City of Aurora, the City of Elgin, and Kane County; the participation in the 2023 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program.

Lieutenant Bill Rowley - APD, presented and answered questions regarding this item.

A motion was made by Alderman Laesch, seconded by Alderwoman Garza, that this agenda item be recommended for approval. The motion carried.

24-0063 A Resolution approve the purchase of 31 United Shield Brand Ballistic Shields and accessories from MES/Lawmen Supply of Deer Creek, Illinois in the amount of $64,725.00.

A motion was made by Vice Chair Donnell, seconded by Alderwoman Garza, that this agenda item be recommended for approval. The motion carried.

24-0085 A Resolution Approving of Third-Party Administrative Services for Cities in Schools Aurora to administer the 2024 Summer Programs in the amount not to exceed $183,000.00 for the Youth Services Subdivision.

Simon Rodriguez - Youth Services, City of Aurora and Karen Harkness - Cities in Schools Aurora, presented and answered questions regarding this item.

A motion was made by Alderwoman Garza, seconded by Alderman Laesch, that this agenda item be recommended for approval. The motion carried.

A motion was made by Alderman Laesch, seconded by Vice Chair Donnell, that this meeting be adjourned. The motion carried. Chairperson Saville adjourned the meeting at 4:27 pm.
