City of Aurora Civil Service Commission met Nov. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

CALL TO ORDER-4:02 p.m.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Ramona Wood

Vice Chairman Angela Thomas

Commissioner Timothy Oelker

GUEST: Inv. Matthew Hix, APD, to review police officer backgrounds

Lt. Eric Westrom, APD, to update commissioners on the changes to the 2023 Promotional process

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Commissioner Oelker motioned to approve the October 28, 2022 meeting minutes. Commissioner Thomas seconded. Moton Passed.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Commissioners finalized the questions and selected 3 dates to present to Stanard for the presentation of psychological evaluation results.

Commissioners discussed parameters and details regarding the secure network that will be used to assessment and background assessments.

NEW BUSINESS

Commissioner Thomas motioned to take the Commission into executive session at 4:35 p.m. to review public safety applicant polygraph, psychological and backgrounds. Commissioner Oelker seconded. Motion Passed.

Commissioner Thomas motioned to take the Commission out of executive session at 4:45 p.m. to review public safety polygraph evaluation and/or psychological assessments. Commissioner Oelker seconded. Motion Passed.

Commissioner Oelker motioned to pass 2022 Police Officer eligibility list candidates Vincent Ruhl, Martin McGrath, Andrew Churchill to the next step in the hiring process due to the results of the background investigation. Commissioner Thomas seconded. Motion Passed.

Commissioner Oelker motioned to strike 2022 Police Officer eligibility list candidate Marco Silva Patino from the eligibility list due to the results of the background investigation. Commissioner Thomas seconded. Motion Passed.

OTHER BUSINESS

Lt. Eric Westrom discussed changes made to the 2023 Promotional exercises. Commissioners asked questions and more discussion took place. There were no concerns from the Commission regarding the changes.

Commissioner Thomas motioned, seconded by Commissioner Oelker to adjourn the meeting at 5:11 p.m. Motioned Passed.
