Op-ed: Scared of public awareness and illegal activity on primary Election Day

Wednesday, day after our primary election in DuPage County it was a sad situation. Fear of Public Awareness.

There were many instances prior to Election Day, where people reached out to me claiming their signs were stolen, thus I replaced them. Many areas signs were ripped out or stolen. After being replaced by our team the third time, we put them out the day prior to election only to find they were removed again. The day of the Election I was informed may of my signs had gone missing again. I found them in distinct locations by polling places like this or completely stolen. It is astonishing that in an unopposed election for myself, they still felt it necessary to steal or rip down signs for Legislative District 25.

Now elected to be the GOP State Senator Legislative District 25 as the only republican, I can only assume the nasty politics I’ve heard of will only intensify. My only goal is to be a voice for the people. Help those struggling to put gas in their car, food on the table, supply recommendations of statewide services already implemented or serious issues about to arise come January passed by the Democrats. Humbling serving and representing the people voting and not playing dirty games will win.

On Election Day, I received several phone calls for various locations in West Chicago of election intimidation. One location, a gentleman was sitting in a chair just outside the doors handing out flyers. Police arrived at that location at the West Chicago Community High School District 94, and he was removed. I went out to one location to see if one complaint was true. I stood behind the cones, 100ft from polling place, as a gentleman jumped out of his car to give me a list of candidates to vote for paid for by Gil Villegas. I witnessed him run up to a friend of ours who is Hispanic, just parking, and he ran over to her at once after breaking the law. She refused to take a flyer and he kept trying to force her into taking it. I caught him live on camera in its entirety, and I informed the election judges inside.

When I informed the judges inside at the West Chicago Location of the 520 building off National St, election judges just shook their heads at me in disgust that I made a complaint. Afterwards, one judge went out and spoke to him privately, and the person who broke the law just went and sat in his car, but did not leave. After I waited 15 minutes in the parking lot and called it in to our clerk to be addressed, the same election judge who approached the man passing flyers, came out and just stared at me in an antagonizing way for roughly 4 minutes. I refused to leave in fear others would be harassed. Therefore, we need more quality election judges that are not biased.

After witnessing firsthand, I know now, they do not want people to see or know the truth of our State. They are afraid of public awareness. I hope in the future more people will be able to understand the chaos that has been passed by the Democrats coming this January for our entire state. It is now or never to help save our state for our families, businesses, and our children or grandchildren. Help join me and other Republicans on this journey for a safe and fair election come November. There is time to train and become an election judge and help the people of Illinois from the burden weighing on every family right now.
