CITY OF BATAVIA: North River Street Executive Order 20-05

Tableoutside

City of Batavia issued the following announcement on May 29.

The Mayor has just issued Executive Order 20-05 which allows alcohol consumption during specified hours within a designated area between Wilson St. and State St. on N. River St. The Mayor previously issued Executive Order 20-04 which allowed bars and restaurants an opportunity to create or expand their outdoor seating areas as the state moves to Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan which allows bars and restaurants to serve patrons in outdoor seating areas as long as tables are six feet apart. Recognizing the limitations such restrictions place on these establishments and to provide additional areas for patrons to enjoy an outdoor dining experience, the City had created 3 new outdoor dining areas: On the site of the One Washington Place redevelopment site at the corner of Wilson St. and Washington St., on Houston St. and N. Island Ave. in front of the Peg Bond Center, and on the Woonerf on N. River St. between Wilson St. and State St. Only at the public dining tables on N. River St. will outdoor consumption of packaged liquor purchased from downtown businesses be allowed and only during the hours specified which will be posted on the table and on adjacent signage. Public consumption of alcohol is not allowed in any other area. Also, open liquor may not be removed from the designated area on N. River St. The City urges everyone to place public safety as the highest concern. Please do not come to these dining areas if you are not feeling well. Wear a mask when you are not eating or drinking because we expect these will be popular areas where many will gather. Use sanitizer and wash your hands often. You are doing a great job of staying safe, Batavia. Let’s keep that going as we move into Phase!
