The city of Elgin is preparing for its annual Fourth of July celebration on Friday, July 4. The day will feature a range of activities, including parades, live music performances, and a fireworks display.
Festivities will start with the Fourth of July parade at 9 a.m., beginning at Slade and Douglas avenues. The parade route runs south on Douglas, ending near City Hall at Highland Avenue and Division Street. The Elgin Symphony Orchestra will act as grand marshal for this event.
A pet parade is also scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., starting from the NENA Butterfly Garden near Douglas Avenue and Ann Street. This parade will follow the same path as the main one, concluding near City Hall. Details on registration can be found at elginil.gov/july4.
After the parades, activities continue at Festival Park located at 132 S. Grove Ave. The park will host food trucks, children's activities, games, and live music performances. The concert lineup features:
- 5–6 p.m.: The Moods
- 6:30–7:30 p.m.: The LaBamba Show
- 7:30 p.m.: Pie Eating Contest
- 8:00–9:20 p.m.: The Ultimate Elvis Experience starring Shawn Klush
Fireworks are planned to start around 9:20 p.m., lasting approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
An exclusive VIP Lounge Area is available for guests wishing to enhance their experience for $25 per ticket. Benefits include reserved bar access, lawn seating, restrooms, and an elevated viewing deck with umbrellas and ambient lighting. Tickets are necessary for those aged 12 and older; up to two children under age 12 can enter free with an adult ticket holder. Attendees should bring their own chairs as they are not provided in the VIP area.
A map showing free downtown parking is accessible online. Visitors are advised to arrive early due to street closures which will be announced closer to the event date.
