How much has Geneva CUSD 304 overspent over the past 10 years?

Geneva Community Unit School District 304 accumulated $90.85 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a Kane County Reporter analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, Geneva CUSD 304 reported 24.8 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went down 18.4 percent. The resulting deficit shrunk by 91.8 percent from 2008 to 2017.
