Batavia Park Dist Quarry Park issued the following announcement on July 23.
Does Music Matter? Music Matters School of Music thinks so, and they will be putting on their first Music Matters Summer Fest on Saturday, August 11th on the Batavia Riverwalk. This family-friendly festival has free admission and is open to the public.
Events will take place all day, where people can come and celebrate music, food, art, and community. When asked, “why a music festival?” Director Jeffrey Matter said, “We think music really does matter, and every day we get to see how much fun our students have. We want to share this experience with our surrounding communities.” Matter went on to say that they are so excited to offer such a wide variety of music to the festival. “We have local bands like Serendipity, Noah’s Arcade, and Good things, which are all Chicago based bands covering the classics as well as original music. Our students will kick off the festival at 9:00 am, and our headliner, The Bad Examples, will take the stage at 8:00 pm. For the younger music lovers, the Disney sponsored artist, Ralph’s World, will perform at 3:00 pm.”
Some of the food vendors include Pal Joey’s, Gaetano’s Batavia, El Taco Grande, and Bernie’s Bully Dogs. There will also be a Kid’s Zone, Art Zone, and Cool-off Zone. For a full stage lineup and more information on the festival, you can visit www.musicmattersschool.com/festival.
