CITY OF AURORA: Free Summer Lunch Program for Aurora Youth

City of Aurora issued the following announcement on June 20.

Aurora children can receive free lunches each weekday during the summer thanks to a new collaboration with Northern Illinois Food Bank's Summer Meals Program.

The Meals on the Move program is a mobile meals route that provides FREE and nutritious boxed lunches to children and teens up to the age of 18 years old.

The Meals on the Move van will visit six Aurora parks for 30 minutes each weekday until Friday, August 10. All children are welcome, and all meals must be eaten at the park.

The daily meal schedule is:

11:00 -11:30 a.m. – Lebanon Park (Parker & Douglas)

12:00 -12:30 p.m. – McCarty Park (New York & Park Place)

1:30 - 2:00 p.m. – Blackhawk Park (Blackhawk & Galena)

2:30 - 3:00 p.m. – Arrow Wood Park (Commonwealth & Golden Oaks)

3:30 - 4:00 p.m. – Copley Park 2 (End of Beach Street)

A special weekly stop on Thursdays only will be at Plum Park (Grand and Plum) from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

In collaboration with the Northern Illinois Food Bank's Summer Meals Program, the Fox Valley Park District, Aurora Public Library and City of Aurora are sponsoring enrichment activities at Meals on the Move park locations throughout the summer.

Fox Valley Park District’s Neighborhood Art Program :

Mondays: 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Blackhawk Park

Tuesdays: 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Copley Park

Wednesdays: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Arrow Wood Park

Thursdays: 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Lebanon Park

Aurora Public Library's Bookmobile:

Thursday: 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Plum Park

Fridays: 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Blackhawk Park
