Geneva residents are being cautioned about water use during water-flows tests planned for Tuesday through Thursday, according to a press release.
The tests, which will be done by the Geneva Fire Department and the Geneva Public Works Department, will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from the Fox River to Randall Road.
Despite possible discoloration, water will remain safe to drink, the city said in the press release, but residents can let the water run for a few minutes until it clears up if they prefer. The rust coloration could, however, mar clothing, so residents should refrain from doing laundry during the testing.
Residents whose clothes get discolored should keep the clothing wet and request a packet of rust-removal solution from the Public Works Department at 630-232-1501.
The tests will be used to indicate what infrastructure needs are developing and the water supply firefighters have available.
