ComEd has announced that tree trimming near electric lines will commence in mid-July, focusing primarily on the east side of Geneva. The planned operations are set to take place in several specific areas including Geneva Business Park, Illinois Prairie Path, East Side Drive north of the Illinois Prairie Path, the easement between Oakwood Drive, Woodward Avenue and Euclid Avenue, Route 25 north of State Street, and North River Lane near Stevens Street.
While Geneva operates its own electric utility, ComEd power lines supply City substations. This interconnection allows Geneva to receive energy purchased from PJM, its regional service transmission provider.
According to ComEd, "its vegetation management program helps ensure electrical reliability since tree branch contact with power lines is a leading cause of outages."
Residents affected by the upcoming tree trimming will be notified by ComEd. For more details and a project map, residents can visit the ComEd tree trimming web page.
