The St. Charles Fire Department has announced a water main flushing operation scheduled for Monday, July 7, 2025. The procedure will take place at 521 West Main Street and is set to begin at approximately 9:00 A.M., concluding by 10:00 A.M.
During the flushing process, residents in the area may notice rust in their water supply. The department assures that the water remains safe to use; however, it is recommended to avoid doing laundry until the water runs clear again. If any clothing becomes discolored due to rusty water during laundering, residents are advised to keep the affected items wet and contact the Public Works Department at 630-377-4405 for a rust-removing solution packet.
Additionally, drivers are cautioned to be careful when traveling through areas undergoing flushing due to potential water on the pavement.
