ComEd has announced that tree trimming near electric lines will commence in mid-July, focusing on the east side of Geneva. The trimming operations are planned for several areas including Geneva Business Park, Illinois Prairie Path, East Side Drive north of the Illinois Prairie Path, the easement between Oakwood Drive, Woodward Avenue and Euclid Avenue, Route 25 north of State Street, and North River Lane near Stevens Street.
The City of Geneva operates its own electric utility; however, ComEd power lines supply energy to City substations. Geneva's connection with ComEd facilitates energy reception from its regional service transmission provider, PJM.
According to ComEd, their vegetation management program is crucial for maintaining electrical reliability as contact between tree branches and power lines is a primary cause of outages. Residents affected by the tree trimming will be notified by ComEd. Additional information and a project map can be found on the ComEd tree trimming web page.
