Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 80.7 percent of Kaneland Senior High School's (KSHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.
The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.
For KSHS, its college-enrollment rate marks a decline since 2014, when 84.5 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.
Among other high schools in Kane County, the Class of 2015 college-enrollment rates at Geneva Community High School (78.0 percent), Batavia Senior High School (73.4 percent), St. Charles East High School (72.0 percent), St. Charles North High School (71.8 percent), Larkin High School (22.9 percent), Duquoin High School (47.1 percent), South Elgin High School (50.6 percent) and Hampshire High School (52.6 percent) were all lower than that of KSHS.
The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.
Enrollment at KSHS in 2015 was 1,364; 346 (25.37 percent) were seniors.
ISBE said 53.4 percent of KSHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, vs. an average of 46 percent statewide.
All students who score a 21 or higher on the ACT qualify as "college ready."
KSHS students did better in reading (42.3 percent) and English (71.6 percent), and worse in science (33.6) and math (42.3).
Only 21.0 percent of KSHS students were college ready in all four subjects, ISBE said.
