The Geneva Police Department has announced that several street closures will take place on December 5 and 6 to accommodate the Christmas Walk and Holiday House Tour events in downtown Geneva.
The Christmas Walk tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. on December 5. In preparation, authorities will close Third Street from State Street (Route 38) to South Street starting at 5 p.m. All intersections along South Third Street will also be closed at that time. Temporary parking restrictions in the downtown area will begin at 3 p.m. on December 5.
Law enforcement and emergency management personnel will be present throughout the downtown area during the festivities to assist attendees. The police may deploy a drone to provide real-time aerial monitoring in support of public safety operations.
Streets are expected to reopen following the conclusion of the Christmas Walk at 10 p.m.
The Geneva Holiday House Tour, which requires tickets for entry, will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on December 5 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 6 at five locations: 511 Fargo Blvd., 1118 Fargo Blvd., 833 Sunset Road, 318 N. Second St., and 227 Ford St.
Parking restrictions will be enforced near each house tour location to ensure pedestrian safety and access for emergency vehicles.
According to the release, "The City of Geneva is proud to be a presenting sponsor for both the Geneva Christmas Walk and Holiday House Tour."
"The Police Department appreciates the public’s cooperation and hopes everyone has a festive holiday weekend," officials said.
