The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and Richardson Electronics, Ltd. have announced a new project that will expand the company's operations at its manufacturing headquarters in La Fox, Kane County.
Supported by the Reimagining Energy and Vehicles in Illinois (REV Illinois) program, Richardson Electronics plans to invest over $8.5 million during the next four years. The company intends to grow its operations, keep nearly 200 skilled employees, and add 54 new full-time jobs. The expansion aims to strengthen Richardson’s alternative energy business and develop advanced energy storage products for electric grid stability. These efforts are expected to address brownouts, lower electricity costs, support renewable energy integration, and enhance battery energy storage system technologies.
“I would like to thank Kane County board member Rick Williams, Richardson Electronics, and the DCEO for their support in helping this critically important project move forward,” said State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva). “We must upgrade our energy grid, capacity, and storage options, and this innovative project will help do just that. This project also helps retain and add high-quality, skilled jobs for workers in the Fox Valley.”
Ugaste has served as a Republican member of the Illinois State House since 2019 after replacing Steven Andersson as representative for the state's 65th House District.
