The Montgomery Public Works Department will conduct an emergency bulk brush collection starting Monday, August 25, at 7:00 a.m., following last weekend’s severe weather that resulted in several downed trees across the Village. Crews will make only one pass through each neighborhood and continue until all areas have been covered.

Residents are advised to stack all brush neatly in the parkway by Sunday evening, August 24, as collection begins promptly on Monday morning. The Village has issued guidelines for the special pick-up: brush must be placed in the parkway by the evening before collection; any brush put out after crews have passed will not be picked up, and homeowners will be responsible for its disposal. Brush should be piled in one direction with trunk portions or cut ends facing the street, unbundled, and not higher than three feet. Piles should not block sidewalks or driveways.

Twigs, leaves, and small yard debris should be placed in yard waste bags for removal by the regular garbage provider on designated days. The emergency storm pick-up is intended to remove fallen trees, branches, and limbs caused by recent severe weather.

"In instances where a large amount of debris needs to be collected, the Village kindly asks residents to be patient as the collection begins on Monday morning, but it will take several days, up to a full week, to clear each household's brush," according to Village officials.

Residents can contact the Public Works Department at 630-896-9241 with questions about the Special Emergency Brush Collection or about the regular Bulk Brush Program held twice yearly. More information is available at https://www.montgomeryil.org/167/Brush-Pick-up.
