The Batavia Police Department took part in a July traffic safety campaign focused on reducing speeding and encouraging safer driving. The initiative was part of a statewide effort that involved the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Illinois State Police.

During the campaign, Batavia officers spent more than 64 hours on enforcement activities. This resulted in 66 traffic stops, 63 citations—including 48 for speeding—and several arrests. Funding for this operation came from federal highway safety grants.

The enforcement supported IDOT’s "It’s Not a Game" campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the risks and consequences of dangerous driving behaviors. The police department emphasized its commitment to promoting road safety through participation in such initiatives.

"This effort supports IDOT’s 'It’s Not a Game' campaign, highlighting the serious consequences of dangerous driving," according to the Batavia Police Department.

More information about similar statewide efforts can be found through resources provided by transportation authorities and local law enforcement agencies.
