The city of Elgin has initiated the planning process for its Active Mobility Plan, which is a long-term effort focused on enhancing sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and accessible pathways within the community. This plan aims to improve connectivity, safety, and accessibility for residents across all ages and abilities.
In this initial phase, Elgin is seeking input from residents through a short community survey that gathers their experiences and perspectives on walking, biking, and using mobility devices in the city. The feedback will play a crucial role in shaping the vision and priorities of the plan.
The survey can be accessed online at elginil.gov/ActiveMobility-Survey.
"The Active Mobility Plan is an exciting opportunity to envision how Elgin can better support safe, inclusive and connected travel for everyone," said Sustainability Manager Kristin Iftner. "We want the community’s voice to guide the plan’s priorities and ensure it truly reflects local needs."
This initiative builds upon Elgin's current infrastructure and past planning efforts aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles, environmental sustainability, and equitable transportation access.
Residents can also find printed copies of the survey at several locations:
