Middle and high school students in Batavia are being sought for a project aimed at promoting summer safety through real-life traffic stories. The City of Batavia, in collaboration with Riverbank Marketing Interns from Batavia High School, is organizing the initiative. Students will share their experiences involving close calls with traffic while on foot, riding a bike, scootering, or driving.
The project will feature students in a series of videos that focus on summer safety. Those interested in participating will be asked a few predetermined questions, ensuring that there are no unexpected inquiries during the interview. Each interview will be concise, lasting just a few minutes, and will be filmed by student peers. In appreciation of their contribution, 15 selected students will receive $20.
Filming is scheduled for May 9 at 3:30 p.m. in Batavia, with the specific location details to be provided to those who are selected. To be eligible, participants must be between 6th and 12th grade. An application process is required, along with parental or guardian consent, which must be submitted online by May 2. Interested students are encouraged to apply by visiting bataviail.gov/slowdownsummer.
