FOIA Request to Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy Regarding State Agency Contracts with Vendors on March 24, 2025.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in government affairs, we at Kane County Reporter have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. This request seeks documentation and details concerning the fulfillment of contractual obligations for all contracts executed or modified between this state agency and their vendors during January of the 2023 fiscal year.
Specifically, we are requesting records that verify the scope of work performed, deliverables completed, and any reports or evaluations related to these contracts. Access to these public records is crucial for us as members of the media to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Our goal is to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public.
In support of our mission, we are also requesting a fee waiver as media professionals. Our efforts are further backed by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Missouri Corporation dedicated to assisting news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
We believe that such transparency initiatives help inform the American electorate by pulling back the curtain on government actions. We await a response from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy regarding this request.
