Illinois residents are once again being targeted by a phishing scam involving fake text messages claiming they owe tolls. The warning comes as part of an ongoing issue affecting the state's residents.

The scam involves sending text messages to individuals, falsely stating that they have unpaid tolls and prompting them to provide personal information or make payments. Authorities urge recipients not to respond to these messages and to report any suspicious activity.

"Illinoisans are once again being targeted with fake texts in a phishing scam claiming they owe tolls," warns the official statement on the matter.
