Devin Corbett, Chairman of the Aurora Township Republicans, has expressed support for President Trump's recent executive order aimed at restricting chemical and surgical sex-change procedures for minors. Corbett described the order as a crucial measure to protect children from what he termed dangerous and irreversible medical procedures driven by radical ideology. He made these remarks to the Kane County Reporter on February 10.
"With this executive order, President Trump is taking a stand to defend children from dangerous, politically driven medical experimentation," said Corbett. "No child should undergo irreversible procedures that alter their bodies before they can even understand the consequences. Protecting minors from these interventions isn't about politics—it's about basic human rights and ethical medical practices. American children should be nurtured, not experimented on like test subjects in a social experiment gone wrong."
Fox News reported that President Trump signed an executive order titled "Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation." The order prohibits federal funding, promotion, or support for child sex transitions. It argues that medical professionals are performing irreversible procedures on minors, which could lead to regret and lifelong complications.
The American College of Pediatricians (ACP) has indicated that there is no long-term evidence supporting the safety or efficacy of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, or surgeries for transgender youth. According to the ACP, these interventions are experimental due to a lack of reliable data. This absence of data prevents parents from providing informed consent and minors from giving assent. The ACP warned that puberty blockers might exacerbate gender dysphoria, self-harm, and emotional instability, with potential side effects such as osteoporosis, mood disorders, and cognitive impairment. High doses of hormones also pose risks including psychiatric issues, sterility, and cardiovascular problems.
Alliance Defending Freedom reported on Dr. Hilary Cass’s review commissioned by England’s National Health Service (NHS). Cass critiqued the evidence supporting puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries for children with gender dysphoria. She found no reliable long-term outcome data and noted that systematic reviews have exposed the poor quality of existing studies. Cass criticized the rapid global adoption of gender-affirming treatments based on a single Dutch study despite its narrow scope. She emphasized that medical decisions should involve parents unless their involvement poses a risk to the child's safety and concluded that children deserve a cautious, evidence-based approach over ideology in treating gender-related distress.
Corbett was first elected Chairman of the Aurora Township Republican Party in 2024. According to the organization’s website, he is focused on boosting Republican voter turnout, growing party membership, and communicating party positions on issues significant to Aurora Township voters.
