Illinois grapples with significant budget deficit as new assembly convenes

As the new General Assembly takes its seats, Illinois faces a significant budget deficit. The state must prioritize taxpayers when crafting the budget for this year, as residents cannot bear the cost of what has been described as "the majority party’s out-of-control spending habits."

Despite the looming deficit in next year's budget, current-year revenues are reportedly on track according to Capitol News Illinois.
