FOIA Request to City of Geneva Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Kane County Reporter have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request is specifically for a list of all parking violations currently unpaid in the city of Geneva.
The requested records include details such as the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when the violation occurred, and the total amount due. We have asked that these records be provided in an electronic format for ease of access and analysis.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
